Moms clubs: by Jeannette

There are several 'offline' moms clubs in the area. What I mean by that? They are mainly face-face meetings vs. mainly chatting online as posted in earlier post.

I've been able to check out 3 of the clubs which I will highlight here. They all are set up differently and offer various things. Most of them encourage you to come check them out prior to joining to see if that is what you looking for.

Hip Mamas.
This group is a meetup group. From their website they describe themselves as "This group is to get Kentuckiana mama's up and out. And by that I mean that not only will you be socializing your kids but yourself as well. We are an active group who gets together at least twice a week. With an occasional mama's night out." It only costs $5 a year. There is a message board, but mainly the calendar of activities is the main focus of this group. I found it as a great place to discover what Louisville had to offer for SAHMs with their kiddos.

This group describe themselves as "We are a support group designed just for you, the at-home mother of today! You are interested in the world around you, want a variety of activities for you and your children, and are proud of your choice of at-home mothering for your families! We know, because we're at-home mothers, too!" The annual fee is $15-30. There are a few local chapters so you join the one within your zip code. They have monthly meetings that have guest speakers and playgroups throughout the week. In addition, they might have additional activities or themed playdates for the whole chapter as well as MNO (moms night out).

MOPS is a Christian based group that meets at several different churches in the area. The thing that makes this group unique is that you pay $5/month for the monthly meeting and your child is watched by a daycare worker. So you actually get a few hours to hang with other moms with your little one still close by. This group also offers MNO and monthly playdates.
