Review of Open Gym & Swim at All About Kids By: Stephanie

I often take my kids to the PreSchool Open Gym at All About Kids during the week in the mornings, but I have been wanting to try their Open Gym & Swim.  Why not break up the hibernation during these freezing winter months by heading to swim!  I don't have a good picture to share since it was quite humid in the room with the pool :(

The Open Gym & Swim started at 7pm and we got their right before 7.  To our surprise, there was a snake of a line. I couldn't believe how many people there were!  I occupied the kids while my husband waited in line. After 20 minutes, I knew he was close to the front so I got the kids dressed for the pool. They have changing rooms right outside of the pool entrance.

Finally, we were in.  I asked the life guard if this was a typical crowd and he assured me that it was not. He said he had never seen people having to wait that long, so don't let my long wait deter you.  My kids had a blast!  They haven't been swimming in months and I think they would have stayed there for hours and hours.  They have a few items for the kids to play with but the big hit for my son was the slide into the pool. I lost count of how many times he got out of the pool to go for a slide.

There is a locker room for men and women that you can enter from the pool.  We got changed at about 8:15, giving us until 9pm for my kids to go to the gym to get in some bouncing and climbing.  For those who have never been there, All About Kids has a huge indoor gym full of trampolines, bars to climb, balance beams, foam pits and more. They even have a preschool area with a bouncy house, inflatable slide and such.

Parents can play with their kids or they can watch from above since it has a large open balcony.  I would encourage parents to stay with their kids as it gets very busy and with all of the jumping and running, I think it's helpful to have parents nearby.

The cost of the Open Gym & Swim is $6 members, $8 guests and they have it on Fridays and Saturdays from 7-9pm as well as Sundays from 2-4pm. I had 2 passes to try it out from Louisville Mommies but I will take my kids back again some time!
