Things to do this weekend in and around Louisville November 4,5,6

Last weekend was really eventful, how about keeping it simple this weekend!  Here's my picks for things to do with your kids in Kentuckiana.

Friday:
Fall Harvest Ride
Ages: All Ages
Time: 6-8:30pm
Location: Park at Wooded View Golf Course, and take short tractor-drawn hayride through the park
Fee: Donation of one canned good or non-perishable item

Hop on one of the fall harvest hay wagons for a journey through Lapping Park! When the tractor stops at Endris Lodge, hop off, because that's where you can warm up to the campfire and sing songs with campfire singers Cameron and Molly. Join us at 6:30 for an "Owl Prowl" where we will take a short hike while looking and listening for owls. Hot dogs, s'mores kits, soft drinks and hot chocolate will be sold inside the Lodge.

Saturday
Tap into your bag of leftover Halloween candy and make some post - Halloween crafts.

  • How about candy race cars???  With a little bit of frosting, you and your children can attach candies to a fun sized chocolate bar (like snickers, 3 musketeers, milky way) and make it look like a car!  Use smarties for wheels, M&Ms for headlights, candy corn for flames coming out of the back.
  • Or, melt down chocolate bars and dip pretzel rods in the chocolate.  Roll them in other candies (crush some!) and set them to harden on waxed paper.  Give them to neighbors, grandparents, teachers as little treat gifts!
  • Build with Dots!  Those are some tough chewy candies.  Children of all ages can use toothpicks and dots to make all sorts of things like bridges, houses, stick people.....

Or, head out after 5pm to the Louisville Science Center and enjoy it for just $5!

Sunday:
Sunday's weather prediction is 63 degrees and sunny. That screams PARK to me!  Is there a local metro park that you have been meaning to try.  Go for it. Pack a picnic, bring bikes, tennis rackets, basketballs and sidewalk chalk.  How about Tyler Park, I bet the fall foliage is lovely?  Have you been to the Creekside Playground since the summer?  What about Riverview, your little kids can play, the big kids can bike on the trail.  And, I bet those ducks in Brown Park are getting hungry for some bread since they are probably not getting as many visitors!   Pick a park and make an afternoon of it!

Have a lovely weekend, we are going to Big Splash Adventure and will be telling you all about it!

Stephanie
