Things to do in and around Louisville in January 2012

PhotobucketHere are some ideas for keeping the family and kids entertained in Kentuckiana during the post-holiday month of January!  We spend so much time preparing for the holidays and New Year's Eve and then all of sudden it's January and it seems like there is nothing to do!  That's not true:

On January 6th, head downtown for the First Friday Trolley Hop.  The trolley runs for free from 5-11pm and you can hop on and off to tour different downtown venues.  Many places have special discounts or events going on during the First Friday Trolley Hop!  You can park in a lot, garage or after 6pm, parking is free on the street!

January 8th at 1pm head to Vint Coffee - Northfield.  Louisville Family Fun is sponsoring a FREE Magic show by Steve O Magic! Grab a mocha, enjoy some magic and have a wonderful afternoon.

On Friday & Saturday evenings, head to the Louisville Science Center and admission is just $5 after 5 pm.  Or, you can see the exhibits and an IMAX show for just $10 per person.  The Science Center has multiple levels of fun and learning. So, each time, choose a new floor to explore!

Photobucket4 Kicks for Kidz has added many new time slots for open play and it's just $5 per child, which includes a little lesson/class with a coach.  They now have open play Monday through Friday from 12:30-2:30.  Also, they will have open play from Monday-Thursday from 9:30-11 and on Wednesday from 5:30-6:20 for "Daddy & Me" open play time.

How about some indoor swimming?  At Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center families can enjoy open recreational swim on Mon-Fri Noon-3:30 p.m. , Friday 7-9 p.m.  and Saturday Noon-5:45 p.m.  Admission for Children is $3 and adults (13 or older) is $5.50

The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 2012 World Tour to KFC Yum Center in Louisville on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, for a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Tickets to see the world’s most famous basketball team are on sale now. Tickets start at $19.00 and are available at www.harlemglobetrotters.com, www.ticketmaster.com, the KFC Yum Center box office, or by phone at 800.745.3000.

Have Fun and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am a little early but wanted to post the link for the National Farm Machinery Show, February 15-18 at the fair grounds - excellent, excellent chance for little ones to crawl all over their favorite tractors, combines, and other farm gear! You don't have to be a farmer to enjoy... just didn't see it mentioned in the February news. Look at http://www.farmmachineryshow.org/ for more info! And it's all free, most vendors give out coloring books, treats, you can take pictures with mascots, have kids areas, and even cupcakes at one seed company last year! Free fun for all, (just parking that is..)
