Parent's Night Out - FREE Wine Tasting at Cox's St. Matthews Wine and Spirit Shoppe

Becoming a parent means making sacrifices, and nowhere is this more obvious than date night. If you’re fortunate enough to find a sitter, you may still wonder how you’re going to squeeze a date into the budget. Enter Dr. Sandi’s semi-monthly wine tasting and food pairing class. Did I mention it’s free?

PhotobucketI’m always on the lookout for new and fun things to do on date night, and if it’s free that’s a major bonus. Dr. Sandi’s wine tastings are held about twice a month at Cox’s St. Matthews Wine and Spirit Shoppe, 294 North Hubbards Lane.

So far I’ve attended four of her tastings. Dr. Sandi has a loyal group of followers, mainly because she is very knowledgeable about the subject, but also because her tastings are so much fun. This is no supermarket free sample line. She pours each varietal and tells you what to pair with it. Then you get to discuss the characteristics of each wine with your fellow tasters. I have learned more about wine from those four tastings than I did from numerous books and magazines.

Her next tasting is February 10 from 5-6:30. It takes about half an hour, so try to arrive no later than 6 p.m. so you can taste all the varietals. As an added bonus, if you buy two or more of the wines being poured you get 10% off. She also has an awesome wine blog at http://winegeekgirl.livejournal.com/. I hope to see you there!
