Things to do this weekend in and around Louisville July 6,7,8

My picks for things to do this weekend are all "outdoorsy"  Louisville is full of places to explore, parks, forests, creeks and more.  Why not make this weekend an adventure!?!?!

On Saturday, the Jefferson Memorial Forest is having a Family Canoe Day.  You can be a beginner and they will provide you with what you need (canoe, paddles, flotation devices) and all you need to pay is the $10 canoe rental.  Kids have to be 5 or older and you can head out in your family canoe, adorn hats and lather on the sun screen and enjoy a gem of our area.  It's from 10am-2pm so you can go earlier before the high high heat hits in the afternoon.

or............

Bernheim is having one of their Eco Kids discovery days.  From 9am to 5pm on Saturday, you can drop in ($5 per car) and learn, explore and have fun!  They have "on your own" challenges at the Visitor's Center and for a more limited time (from 1-4pm) they have hands-on discovery stations.  This weekend's theme is the water's edge and the creatures and plants that live there! You can do the on your own challenge in the morning and head indoors for the discovery stations when it's hotter in the afternoon.

or........

PhotobucketFind a shady local spot to explore or revisit.  A creek bed, a nature preserve, a state park - something off the beaten path. Hit dirt this weekend, not pavement.  Let us know what you find!

So, rest up on Friday evening and Sunday and be ADVENTUROUS on Saturday.  (stay hydrated too!!)  And of course, there are more options on our calendar like the Ice Cream Social on Sunday afternoon.
