Review of Twin Glass Studios

PhotobucketPhotobucketEvery year my family goes to a glass studio to blow our own Christmas ornaments. We’ve been to
Glassworks and Flame Run, but this year there are some new options to choose from. We decided to
check out Twin Glass Studios in Norton Commons, and I am so glad
we did. And, this isn’t something that’s just for the holidays, they have demonstrations and classes year-round.

Twin Glass Studios is owned by Susie Slabaugh Hencye. She used to own Flame Run, but she wanted a
cozier and more family-friendly atmosphere for her hot shop. What she designed is a small shop with
a kid-friendly room that looks into the hot shop through large windows. There is a table with coloring
pages, toys, books, and a television complete with a Playstation to entertain the kiddos. We were there
for almost two hours crafting unique Christmas ornaments and decorations and my kids almost never
got tired of watching the activity in the hot shop.

PhotobucketPhotobucketIn years past, we’ve always done the simple round glass ornaments. I chose Twin Glass Studio this year
because they offer different types of ornaments, as well as Christmas Trees and Snowmen. My oldest
son made a beautiful Christmas Tree decoration and my youngest enthusiastically made a SNOWMAN!
We all really enjoyed the process, and the artists were very patient and welcoming of my rambunctious
little ones. Susie has twin seven year old girls, so she was well-equipped for energetic kids.

PhotobucketThe regular ornaments cost $40 each and take about twenty minutes. The Christmas Tree and
Snowman are $60 and take just over half an hour. The experience at Twin Glass Studio was very
enjoyable-they really took their time explaining the process and collaborating with us on designs. I
made the most high-maintenance ornament I’ve ever made, and I hung it on my tree this
year with pride! Keep this place in mind for next year or check out their events throughout the year, it always a good time to make something beautiful for yourself or as a gift. Call (502)963-1647 for an appointment. Twin Glass Studios is located at 9409 Norton Commons
Blvd., Ste 101 in Prospect.
