Magical Forest Toddler Area at the Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve &Flying Squirrel special event

Recently, the Creasy Mahan Nature Preserve held one of its monthly
free educational programs along with a dedication to their new Magical Forest toddler area. This month’s program happened to be about squirrels. There was a great presentation by Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Center along with 2 live flying squirrels and a large gray squirrel. The presentation had great audience participation, and she handled the kid’s questions and comments wonderfully. The free kids programs are definitely worth the visit.

Then we had the dedication of the Magical Forest toddler play area. This area is in the Nature Center building which is already full of interesting display of animals and their habitats. The toddler area was built and painted by volunteers working over 300 hours, and inspired by local children’s books author and volunteer, the late Joe Yurt. It’s a wonderful little area with children’s books and toys, with beautiful and fun paintings on the walls. Make sure you head over to Creasy Mahan and check it out. Most of their events are free, along with their playground, 8.5 miles of trails, and acreage to enjoy 365 days a year. Check their calendar for upcoming events.
