Things to do this weekend in and around Louisville May 10,11,12

Howdy! It's the middle of May - the weather is warming up and the kids are winding down for the year in school.  I'm getting pretty excited about being outside so much (even though my allergies are full blown right now).  We are having a lot of fun gardening and getting dirty outside.  So, besides hanging out in the yard, what's there to do in this town?

First, there's the opening day of epic proportions at the Frazier History Museum.  See “Mythic Creatures,” an eye-popping new exhibition and celebrate the museum’s ninth birthday. On Saturday 5/11 ONLY, you can take advantage of $5 admission (regular adult price is $18.50). There will be unicorn rides, adventurous activities, fantastic face painting, captivating creatures from the Louisville Zoo, role-playing performances with the Dungeon Master and perhaps even a sighting of Sasquatch himself. Comfy Cow Ice Cream and MozzaPi will be on-hand to offer refreshments as well. Explore the unknown, then take home your own “Mythic Creatures” commemorative photo.  Ride a unicorn?  YEE HAW!

And, HELLOOOOO, YEAH, YOU OVER THERE, OVER THE RIVER FAR FAR AWAY IN INDIANA - CAN YOU HEAR MEEEEE??  You have family fun too!
The Family Fun Workshops at the Carnegie Center are on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 am-12 pm. This Saturday it's Faux Stained Glass Flowers for Mother's Day. The workshop is free but pre-registration is required, space is limited. Call (812) 944-7336 to register or send an email to lwilkins@carnegiecenter.org. It is a drop-in workshop, so people come and go from 10am until about 12pm but no later than 11:30am.  Suggested ages are 2-12, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Don't forget about the FREE downtown scavenger hunt we posted about!
And, the Buy Local Fair organized by the Louisville Independent Business Alliance on Saturday from 2-8pm.  Phew, Saturday is hoppin'!

All weekend (and all summer for that matter) it seems you can find some entertainment at Mike Linnig's.  They have a full list here.  They have an entertainer that's scheduled called DJ Tater.  I find this amusing and strangely intriguing. I glanced over all of the other thing scheduled and saw the DJ Tater and the rest is history. DJ Tater has made it to my picks for the weekend. I used to be cool and enjoy new music acts, now I am fascinated by a stuffed Mr. Potato Head. So is life.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!  Take a few minutes to check out the Louisville Family Fun podcasts!
Stephanie
