Review of Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina, Middletown Location in Louisville

YUM, YUM, & YUM!

Upon entering Salsarita’s in Middletown, the first thing I noticed was the bright colors and modern
flair. The kids were immediately drawn to the few high barstool-chaired tables.
I myself would have chosen the cute outdoor seating, but the rest of the family
wanted to come in out of the hot sun.

The ordering process is a buffet sort of line, with the employees “creating”
your custom taco/burrito/salad behind the counter dependent on your selection
of many choices of items. I decided to try their new Mexican Chop Salad with
pineapple salsa, topped with a splash of fat-free citrus vinaigrette. Take a
look at the picture – it is even BETTER than it looks!!! Paired up with their
signature Sol Lemonade (made with lime and guava), it was a nice change from
your classic summer salad. My husband ordered a burrito, which was larger than
the plate, filled with lots of yummy goodness. Both kids opted for a Cantizza
off the kids menu. Not only were their portions large, but the grilled chicken was
piled high over the melted cheese and queso. They both ate it up! At just $3.49
for a kid’s meal, with three to choose from all coming with choice of drink and
a large, fresh-baked cookie, not bad at all!

As for the prices, we thought they were reasonable, for
“fast” fresh Mexican food – Burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tacos, and salads
ranged between $5-7 depending on the size, and Cantizzas (tortilla pizzas) for
$6. Add $2-3 for combo meals, which include chips and salsa/queso, guacamole
and a drink.

Overall, the food was delicious (per everyone’s full tummies
and happy faces), and the atmosphere (especially outdoors) is pretty fun and
lively. Given the location, it’s a perfect stop for lunch or dinner when out
shopping or busying up the Shelbyville Road area in Middletown!
