Review of J Gumbo’s Poplar Level Road Location in Louisville, KY

I decided to stop in and use our Kids Eat Free VIP Card!! This was my first time ever eating here and I really enjoyed it. We had a scrumptious little lunch date together and even had enough to bring home leftovers for the next day.

We devoured a delicious lunch of Bourbon Street Chicken and traditional Red Beans and Rice. My meal came with a great tasting side of garlic toast as well. I ordered a drink for myself. My toddler’s meal came with a drink and bread; kids’ meals are 1/2 portions of any dish on the menu so you can get what you want. The girl at the register suggested the Bourbon Street Chicken for its sweeter, honey-taste which is milder for children. I really like the Cajun tastes of Louisiana-style cooking, and J Gumbo’s had a very good flair to the dishes we sampled. I can’t wait to take my whole family back some time soon because we all really like this kind of cuisine. They also cater to those with food allergies, which I find very helpful. I thought it was very well priced, along with their huge portions and your kids eat free deal you can’t go wrong! My total this day came to roughly $8 and some change. Check out their menu here.

This J Gumbo’s location is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner on your way to or from the Louisville Zoo or a trek through Joe Creason Park. There are several J Gumbo’s locations around Louisville. Remember, you can have a great deal like the kids eat free option we had by purchasing a Kids Eat Free VIP Card (NOTE: this deal is only good at the Poplar Level location!) Click here for more details. The card pays for itself and then some, because you get fabuLOUs freebies like a free open play to KaZoing!, two weeks of free karate classes from Hwang’s Martial Arts, and a free registration for Mighty Titan Adventures (I hear they are up to some really neat stuff for 2014)!
