Free Things to Do in August 2016 around Louisville, KY

Free Cultural Passes are valid through August 6th! Use the first week of the month to try out a new venue or two!

August 5th- All About Kids (*Louisville Location) Back-To-School Bash- Free open gym and swim from 7-9pm. 100% of donations collected at the door will go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters!

August 5th - Touch-a-Truck fun at Gateway Park (and movie night!!) It all starts at 6pm and it's free.

August 6th- Make a skateboard pencil box at the Home Depot Kids Workshop, 9am-12pm.

August 6th- Pet Day & Butterfly Day at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, 10am - 2pm.

August 7th- All About Kids (*Oldham Location) Back-To-School Bash- Free open gym and swim from 7-9pm. 100% of donations collected at the door will go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters!

August 12th- FridayFest at Highview Park- Local live music, local food trucks and community socializing.

August 27th- Seven Sense Festival (*Charitable event for Boys & Girls Haven)
Live music, including 40 bands, craft breweries, food trucks, and arts & crafts vendors.


It's not too late to enjoy a free outdoor summer movie!

- 8/5 - Hotel Transylvania at Gateway Park in Clarksville. Begins at 8:30pm.
- 8/6 - Inside Out at Jefferson RiverStage. Open at 7:30pm. Movie at dusk.
- 8/12 - Zootopia at Christ Church at Goshen. Concessions open at 7pm, movie at dusk.
- 8/13 - Aladdin at Jefferson RiverStage. Open at 7:30pm. Movie at dusk.
- 8/19 - Zootopia at Norton Commons Town Center. Movie at dusk.
- 8/20 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 at Jefferson RiverStage. Open at 7:30pm. Movie at dusk.
- 8/27 - Shaun the Sheep at Jefferson RiverStage. Open at 7:30pm. Movie at dusk.


There are also some fun church picnics this month.

- August 5th & 6th– St. Gabriel
- August 11th - 13th– St. Rita (*August 11th is ride night)
- August 12th & 13th (Fri 5-10pm, Sat noon-midnight) – 167th Annual St. Joseph Children’s Home Picnic. This is Kentucky’s largest picnic!
