It may be August but summer is still in full swing around Louisville. Check out the list below to find some great FREE August events to keep your family smiling.

National Night Out – Various times and locations

Hillview’s Free Back to School Bash – 6pm-9pm at Hillview Community Center

August 4

Jeffersonville Riverstage – Classic Rock Experience, All shows start with an opening band at 7 pm, then the headliner goes on stage at 8:30.

Highview Friday Fest – 6pm, Local music, local food trucks, and community socializing every other Friday, throughout the Summer.

Movie in the Park – Cars at Gateway Park, the movie will start at 7:30pm, right after their exciting Touch a Truck event which starts at 5:00pm

KMAC Tiny Art Tales from 10:30am-11:15am

August 5

St. Matthews Potato Festival – The entire family can enjoy bushels of fun well into the evening with something for everyone, 12:00-6:00pm

August 9

Free Movie Night –  Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome at Iroquois Amphitheater. This movie is Rated R. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. and gates open at 7:30 p.m. for concessions and door prizes!

August 11

Jeffersonville Riverstage – The Juice Box Heros, All shows start with an opening band at 7 pm, then the headliner goes on stage at 8:30.

August 11 – 12

170th Annual St. Joe’s Picnic For the Kids – St. Joseph Childern’s Home – Friday 5:00- 11pm and Saturday 12:00pm-12:00am

August 16

KMAC Tiny Art Tales from 10:30am-11:15am

Free Movie Night – The Super Mario Bros. at the Iroquois Amphitheater! They encourage you to dress as your favorite character! This movie is rated PG. Gates open at 7:30 and the movie starts at 8:30.

August 19

Water Wars – 1pm-3pm at Silver Street Park in New Albany

August 20

Rockout Cancer Concert – Doors open around 3pm, music is from 4-8pm featuring Fast Forward (4pm) and The Mixers with Lyndsey Henken (6pm). 10798 Dixie Hwy (behind Arby’s)

August 23

Free Movie Night – Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at Iroquois Amphitheater! This movie is rated PG-13. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. and the gates open at 7:30 p.m. for concessions, giveaways and door prizes!

August 25

KMAC Tiny Art Tales from 10:30am-11:15am

August 30

WFPK Waterfront Wednesday – Deer Tick (9 p.m.), Darlingside (7:30 p.m.) and Anemic Royalty (6 p.m.). The free concerts take place on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville’s Waterfront Park. The Big Four Lawn is located next to the Big Four Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. The shows open at 5 p.m., with music beginning promptly at 6 p.m.
