October 1: Spencer County Oktoberfest
There will be an old fashioned family fun parade and festival in downtown Taylorsville. While you're there, check out other things to do in the area by visiting Shelby Family Fun!
October 1-9: Harvest Homecoming in New Albany, Indiana
This week long festival in southern Indiana is a staple of autumn in the air in Kentuckiana! Check out this brochure which lists tons of information for the whole week including a festival map and complete schedule of events-be sure to check out all of the arts and crafts booths, the kids' dog show, pumpkin painting with the Carnegie Center and much more.
October 8 (8:30am-6pm) and October 9 (11am-5pm): Bowman Field Aviation Heritage Festival
Head out to Bowman Field for the first ever festival all about the heritage of aviation! The festival does have a ticket price but one fun feature of the festival is the Hot Air Balloon Rally on 10/8 with lift off at 8:30am; head out and watch the balloons!
October 8 (9am-5pm): Southwest Community Festival
This fall festival is held in the southwest part of Jefferson County at Sun Valley Park. There will be activities in mind for all ages, including a specific toddler town area for preschoolers and younger, as well as games and inflatables for older kids and a teen town and information for seniors. A street rods car show and live music will also be part of the entertainment.
October 8 (11am-4pm): Highview Community Festival and Parade and Car Show
Located in the ValuMarket Outer Loop Plaza, the festival will have lots of arts and crafts booths to browse as well as games and amusement for kids and many food vendors.
October 15 (11am-2pm): Ninth and O Baptist Fall Fest
There will be food, games, a hay maze, inflatables, petting zoo, pony rides and more! It's free and open to the community.
October 19: Trick or treating, fun and family-friendly haunted house for littles, free and open to the community! At Oldham County YMCA in Buckner. See Oldham Family Fun for more ideas for FREE FUN in October!
October 22 (2:30pm-5pm): Louisville Pipe Band at Southwest Regional Library
Bring the whole family and come enjoy a lively pipe band performance. There will be information about free piping and drumming lessons. This program is suitable for all ages.
October 28 (5-8 pm): Family Fall Festival with Chick-fil-A at Jefferson Commons. Inflatables, music, face-painting and more!
October 29 (10am-11am): Spooky Dance Party at Main Library
For children ages 3-7, head to the Main Library downtown and boogie down to some slightly scary stories and songs. You can even wear your costumes if you want!
