photo summer_zpsfpc919en.pngAccording to the USDA, the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was developed to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Many families receive free lunches for their children throughout the school year. The extra expense of lunches in the summer can be a budget-buster for families who are struggling to make ends meet. This summer, USDA expects to serve more than 200 million free meals to children at approved SFSP sites across the country.
