Review of Ladies Night Out at Board and Brush in Louisville, KY

We were granted admission for purpose of review
photo 20170616_205715-1_zpslsk3kbqr.jpgI recently had a girls’ night at Board and Brush Louisville. It’s located in the East End, right off 265. It’s conveniently situated next to a Mexican restaurant for chips and margaritas right before or after! (Board and Brush also has a bar and snacks for sale which was great to have while creating our projects).

Prior to arriving, we registered for a specific wood project online. They have a TON of pictures to choose from in their online gallery. We took care to fill out our names, dates, and other details, with accurate spelling. Word to the wise – the smaller the words/designs/font, the more difficult your project will be. For your first project, you may want to choose a project with big letters, and not a lot of detail work.

Upon arrival, we checked in and found our pieces of wood and pre-cut stencil waiting for us. It was so convenient to have this prepared in advance. After we checked the spelling on our stencils, they explained the process we were about to follow, and we got to work. We also picked out a wine to share.

First, we distressed the wood with a variety of tools. Then we sanded each wood piece – front and back, even the back support boards. Next we screwed the boards together and put on the hanging hooks. Power tools! Then we stained our wood. There are a variety of stain colors to choose from, and an option to add another layer on top of the stain for some extra detail if desired – either a white wash, or a darker stain. Many samples hang along the walls so we could easily see how stains and paints work together to help with our selections. The staff were very helpful for recommendations.

Next we applied our stencil. This is where it comes in handy to not have small details. After our stencil was in place, we choose our paint colors (again, they have a TON of colors to choose from), and then got to work painting. Before the paint is dry, we pulled off the stencil (again, big letters are much easier), and our projects were done!

We had a BLAST, and both of our projects came out perfect – exactly like we wanted (WAY better than our follow-the-directions painting experiences). The staff were so helpful, fun, and knowledgeable. The environment was fun, it was easy to get to, and only took about two hours to complete a project. Be sure to wear clothes that you’re ok getting messy – you do get gloves to stain in, but working with stain and paint, accidents happen!

They have several options available – private parties, kids’ classes, and camps. It’s a great place for a birthday party, girls’ night out, or just to enjoy making a birthday or housewarming gift with a friend. They have lots of wood projects that can be personalized or projects that fit any home, and they have projects for every holiday and event you can think of! I could definitely fill my walls with these professional looking projects that I can customize to fit any room in my home. I am excited to head back for my next project.
