Markertown: Support Local Teacher and Mom of Four To Bring her Book To Market!

Local mom follows her lifelong dream to write and illustrate a children’s book

Do your kids misplace their marker caps? Do they not snap them on tight? This book is for you!

Amanda Fox, 7th grade teacher, author of Markertown, illustrator, and mother of four used the global pandemic  as an opportunity to chase her dreams of writing and illustrating a kids book.  When Covid-19 shut down schools, Fox found a silver lining amidst the quarantine; she could finally shift her focus to writing and illustrating a book idea, so she did!

Fox is a 7th grade teacher at Holy Trinity Parish School in Louisville, Kentucky, and she has been very open with sharing the writing and editing process with her students. Holding voluntary zoom meetings with students interested in publishing their own books, her story is inspiring a future generation of writers and illustrators.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Markertown is a heartwarming story written in rhyme about a little marker that loses her cap. She can’t go back to her box incomplete, and along her journey she encounters a group of motley markers that help save the day. Fox wrote Markertown as a response to her own children’s inability to keep markers and their caps together.

The subtext encourages kids to take care of their things, while also crafts a message around kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. There are plenty of activity pages, design challenges, and curriculum for parents, teachers, and homeschoolers! It is interactive and your child’s art can come to life.

THE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

Fox has started a kickstarter campaign in order to see her book enjoyed by children everywhere.  Markertown is unique in the way that kids are invited to draw on coloring pages in the book and bring their art to life through Augmented Reality.

This is a book not just meant to be read, but experienced as it combines creativity and literacy with technology. The kickstarter campaign will run January 4th-February 4th. Those who support the kickstarter pre-order campaign can simply preorder a signed copy of the book for less than the barcode price and other special packages, such as including your kids artwork in the book or naming one of the markers!

Fox said “I hope my story inspires my family, my students, and other moms everywhere to follow their dreams.” To learn more about Markertown or to support her bringing this book to market please visit: Markertown.com
