Sunflowers around Kentucky

Sunflowers are popping up everywhere! We have compiled a list of all the places around Kentucky that you can view, pick, smell, and frolic with them. 

Sunflower, Sunflowers, and more Sunflowers! The end of summer is the perfect time to see how you measure up next to the beautiful flowers that reach for the sky. Did you know there are over 70 varieties of Sunflowers and you can see several of the different types throughout Kentucky (and southern Indiana)? With so many beautiful sunflowers to see around the state, we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss any of them. 

Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in the number of sunflower events that are happening around Kentucky. We have visited a few and hope to see more. Go explore and find your favorite place to enjoy some beautiful flowers and more. 
 
A short 45-minute drive from Louisville is Thomas Dairy Farm. TDF is known for its amazing Halloween fun but did you know they have a Sunflower Festival too? Featuring six acres of sunflowers with over 25 varieties of sunflowers. These flowers will be in all sizes and colors. There will be food, live music, outdoor fun, and you can pick your own sunflowers. You can get your tickets online at a discounted rate but you can also buy them when you arrive. The festival will run the first two weekends in August.

Thomas Dairy Farm and Market is located at 4625 Leitchfield Rd Cecilia, KY 42724.

Just over the bridge in Indiana, Huber’s Orchard and Winery is offering sunflower picking and is open now (as of July 10, 2022).

U-pick sunflowers are available, plus they are beautiful for visiting and taking photos. Make a day out of visiting to see the flowers and enjoy other activities at Huber’s. 

Sunflower picking in a gorgeous sunflower field near Louisville will lift your spirits! This summer has been hard on everyone. The beautiful things in life need to be enjoyed! There is $3 free to ride the wagon to the u-pick fields. Times vary based on the day of the week so call or visit their website for more details. 


Ashlock Farms, The sunflower fields are ready! If you would like to schedule a visit for photography message the farm page. The fee will be $20 per 30 minute session. We have 2 fields so we will allow 4 groups per 30 minute time slot. Fields will be open from 7:00am – 9:00 pm. All of the fees will go toward our daughters girls scout project for Highpoint. 


Evans Orchard and Cider Mill – August 5, 2023, from 10 AM – 9 PM, tentatively based on Mother Nature. Come enjoy the beautiful field of sunflowers again this year. The approximate opening date will be Friday, July 22nd and we expect to have blooms for three weeks this year. Please note they are on Mother Nature’s timeline, so these dates could change. Entry to the fields will be $10 per person. This will include a wagon ride to the fields and access to walk through and enjoy the views. All sunflower entry tickets will include a free play area and barnyard entry. Blooms will be $2/bloom if you would like to cut any to take home. We also have buckets you can purchase for $20 to fill with up to 10 blooms. Tickets will be sold in the store when you arrive.

Stepping Stone Farm in Paris KY had a couple of fields of sunflowers for your enjoyment. A  $5 entrance fee will be required ages 3 and over and will include access to the entire orchard and playground. They are open 10am-9:00pm Thursday-Monday while blooming. Sunday hours are 12:00-9:00pm. Please note they are CLOSED on Tuesday and Wednesday, no pets are allowed. The farm asks that you please enter the farm by the black barn, and first come to the storefront before entering the grounds. The fields are walkable from the parking lot, handicap accommodations can be made. The address is 1640 Cynthiana Rd Paris, KY 40361 (on the right when coming from Paris).

Jericho Farmhouse – 3401 Lake Jericho Rd, Smithfield, KY 40068. About a 35 min drive from Louisville you can walk the paths, take pictures, or cut some sunflowers for your table. They are open Thursday-Sunday, Noon – 9 pm most weekend days but call or check their Facebook page to be sure before heading out. They are a dairy farm that has an ice cream shop, so plan on getting yourself and the kids a sweet treat. *Please call before going to make sure they have bloomed!*

The Sunflower Market at Lambrecht Farms – A Pickers, Makers, & Farmer’s Market, September 9 & 10. 


Trunnell’s Farm has planted over 65+ Different Varieties that will bloom with just about every variation of color that you could imagine a Sunflower having plus more. The festival will take place September 3rd – 30th (except Tuesdays). There will be Dwarf Sunflowers, Giant Sunflowers, Teddy Bear Sunflowers, and of course People Size Sunflowers, along the Adventurous Trails through the Sunflower Fields where you will experience an abundance of picture opportunities. Enjoy great drinks, food, and fun with 30+ attractions. They encourage you to purchase tickets online ahead of time for the 5th Annual Sunflower Experience to save time and money.
