Louisville Zoo Wild Lights returns for 2022

The popular Wild Lights: Asian Lantern Festival Presented by T-Mobile will be open March 8 through June 5,2022

Wild Lights is one of the largest Chinese lantern festivals in the nation and our community’s first-ever outdoor Chinese lantern festival.  

This is really exciting news! Many people loved Wild Lights Louisville at the Louisville Zoo and it will be back this year. Here’s the information. They will be back with new lanterns. So, if you went in prior years, there’s more to see in 2022 with a new lineup of lanterns. More than 70 larger-than-life illuminated displays made of more than 2,000 silk-covered pieces lit by over 50,000 LED lightbulbs. 

Tickets are available at LouisvilleZoo.org/wildlights. All guests must purchase tickets online in advance. Tickets will not be available at the Zoo due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

Wild Lights is wheelchair and stroller friendly on a paved path. The festival will be 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday nights from March 18 – June 5 and daily from April 4 – 8. 

Louisville Zoo members can purchase tickets in advance online (until 5 p.m. day of the event) for $17 per guest age 3 and over.   Non-members can purchase general admission tickets in advance online for $20 for guests age 3 and over. Free admission for children 2 and under. 

Family Four-Pack tickets are available for Wild Lights Louisville for $55 for members and $65 for non-members in advance online only; Family Four-Pack ticket buyers must enter the event together. There is a $6 parking fee that will be added to all online ticket purchases.

Wild Lights Louisville

The Wild Lights Louisville festival will take place 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday nights from March 19 – May 30 and daily March 24 – April 4. The event is wheelchair and stroller friendly on a paved path.

Wild Lights will include zoo animals, marine animals, dinosaurs and mythical animals. Enjoy the magic while swaying on our glowing moonlight swings or stepping inside a gigantic kaleidoscope for some whirling, twirling fun!

Wild Lights Louisville

The 1.4-mile event route is wheelchair and stroller friendly on a paved path. The path goes one direction and guests may enjoy one loop through the route to see the beautiful lanterns. A limited menu will be available at select food stands.

About Wild Lights

More than 2,000 intricate lanterns displayed in 65 larger-than-life scenes will illuminate the Zoo with over 50,000 LED bulbs. A 1.4-mile trail alongside favorites like a 131-foot-long dragon, a color changing panda tree, a walk-­through shark tunnel, fairy forest and more. Interactive displays will allow guests to leap from lily pad to lily pad and pose with our glowing wings.

Wild Lights Louisville is in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, an international event design company. Tianyu has produced 56 lantern events in 38 cities welcoming over 258 million visitors. After successful runs in other major U.S. cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Cleveland, New Orleans, and Atlanta, Tianyu is expanding on this success in Louisville to create one of the largest lantern festivals in the nation.
