Grant’s Giving 3K/5K Run Walk

Grant’s Giving 3K/5K run walk will take place at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve on November 6 and is open to all skill levels.

Grant's Giving 5K

Grant’s Giving 5k is fantastic was to honor Grant’s memory and people and places he loved.

Grant’s Giving 5K is to honor this wonderful boy. Grant Tucker was an athletic, competitive, and good-natured little boy who was extremely well loved in the small community of Goshen, KY.  Grant passed away in November of 2020 just a few days after his 12th birthday.  It is the goal of his friends and family to keep his legacy alive and use it to help others play the game.  It is what Grant would have wanted.

Grant was known not only for his love of sports but also for always having a huge smile on his face. Grant’s love for athletics and his giving nature is what inspired his parents to create Grant’s Giving Foundation, a local 501c(3) nonprofit. Grant ran cross country, played baseball, and most importantly basketball.

When he wasn’t competing, he was on the sidelines cheering for the rest of his teammates and in cross country he would be also encouraging kids from other teams. He was encouraging to those kids who weren’t as athletically gifted as himself. He believed everyone should be given the chance to play regardless of skill or their financial situation.

Grant’s Giving Foundation aims to provide sporting equipment and sport opportunities to Louisville’s under-served youth. Your support will be distributed directly to those in need in the giving spirit of Grant Tucker.

Grant’s Giving’s largest fundraiser is held each November as an event for Grant’s family and friends to come together to celebrate this special boy, while participating in one of his favorite sports….. RUNNING.  The 2022 event is being held on November 6 at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in Goshen, an amazing park where Grant spent a lot of time.  The event will feature a timed Grant’s Giving 5K for the more serious runners in the community and a family style 3K for those who just want an easy run or walk.

Grant's Giving 5K

Grant’s Giving 5K is truly special as it’s the only timed 5K held at Creasey Mahan. Many local runners will know it from their days running cross country, as it’s the site of the famous Rumble Through the Jungle Cross Country meet. After the run and walk you can stick around and enjoy music, food trucks, and more. This years food truck guests will be Rameros (with their margaritas), Boo Boo BBQ, Annie Up Pizza Cone, and Tikis Shaved Ice.

The 2021 event raised about $18,000 for Grant’s Giving Foundation. We have had several individual athletes and teams benefit from the money raised.  Some of the teams that benefited are the Male High School track team, the Flaget Rams youth football team, the Kentuckiana Colts 13u Black, Safiyyah Dance Company, the Westside Track Club, and the North Oldham High School (NOHS) Marching Band.

Recently at another event benefiting Grant’s Giving, the Back to School Ball Bash, a young man who would have been a classmate of Grant was looking at a collage of Grant and his friends and he said, “I bet we would have been friends.”  While we can no longer see Grant, he’s still making friends from beyond and bringing people together. He is still infecting people with his smile, showing us kindness, and he’s still making friends.
