Where can kids learn archery in Louisville?

Does your child have a newfound interest in a learning archery? Maybe even you do? E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park archery in Louisville lessons that are affordable.

For programs that require registration, you have to act fast to get a spot because they fill up quickly. You must fill out a registration form send it back to the appropriate email so we can get you signed up and ready to shoot! These programs do tend to fill up fast. The quickest way to get a spot is to call and register and pay for an open spot.

Pop-up Explore Archery program Saturday April 8 from 12:00-3:00pm. For only $5 per person participants can receive a very quick lesson in archery and try out our equipment in a controlled gym setting. No reservations needed.

Beginner archery lessons starting April 11th and April 13th for 4 weeks at the Activities Building at EP Tom Sawyer State Park. The lessons are $60 for 1 lesson a week for 4 weeks, this includes equipment use so you will need to pick either Tuesday or Thursday and pick a time. They will also have an archery league following the lessons so if you know any archers with experience looking for some competition then the leagues are perfect for them. The beginner lessons are for those who have never shot a bow before or have very little experience.

Registration for the beginner lessons will start Monday March 13th at 9am. Click the images above for a printable registration form. Do not send registration or payment information before then as they are trying to make sure the registration is fair for everyone. To reserve a spot you will need to pay first and you can do that by calling our office at 502-429-7270 or emailing the attached registration form, filled out, to Andrew.spence@ky.gov. After you pay you can send in the registration form if you didn’t previously. There are limited spots so be sure to be ready and pass on the word!

They have beginner archery lessons available throughout the year. They do not have online registration so you have to watch their social media or get on their email list. Click the image for the downloadable form. Families can learn together or there are sessions just for kids.

They follow the rules of the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP).

There is also an Archery Range at the park which is free and open to the public. Call 502-429-7270 with any questions about archery in Louisville.

In past years, Jefferson Memorial Forest has also offered an archery in Louisville program where children over the age of 8 can learn to shoot a bow and arrow.

Another option to get involved with Archery is through your local 4-H. Contact the archery programs and clubs with the Cooperative Extension Office in Jefferson County. Also, National Tournament with NASP often takes place in Louisville. This is a fun event for participating but also learning more about the sport.
